How to Break a Soul Tie
Soul ties are unseen connections—emotional, physical, or spiritual—that form when we give parts of ourselves to someone outside of God’s design. Sometimes, these ties come from unhealthy relationships, sexual sin, emotional dependency, or deep wounds that were never healed. And even when the relationship ends, the attachment remains.
But here’s the good news:
Jesus came to set captives free.
You don’t have to stay bound by your past. You don’t have to carry shame, confusion, or pain any longer. This 10-day prayer journey is an invitation to step into healing, clarity, and freedom.
Day 1 – What Is a Soul Tie?

“And they two shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.”
Mark 10:8

Devotional:

The phrase “one flesh” is more than poetic language. It is God’s divine design for deep union—body, soul, and spirit—between a husband and wife within the covenant of marriage. But when sexual intimacy occurs outside that covenant, it can still form powerful emotional and spiritual attachments. These attachments, often referred to as soul ties, are not always visible, but they are deeply felt.

Soul ties are an unseen bond that forms when two people connect at a soul level—especially through physical intimacy. God created sex to be beautiful, sacred, and bonding. But when it’s taken outside the context He intended, that bond can become a source of confusion, pain, and spiritual bondage.

Many women find themselves unable to move on emotionally after a breakup. They feel inexplicably drawn back to someone they know isn’t God’s will for them. Even after time, distance, or silence, the emotional pull remains. Why? Because the soul wasn’t meant to be fractured by intimacy without covenant.

But here is the good news: what was formed outside of God’s design can be surrendered and healed within His grace. Soul ties don’t define your destiny—God does. And today, we begin a journey toward understanding, freedom, and restoration.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for revealing the truth about how deeply You care for my body, soul, and spirit. I confess that there are places in my heart and soul where I’ve allowed bonds to form outside of Your will. Whether knowingly or unknowingly, I have united my soul to someone You never intended for me. Today, I choose to bring that before You. I surrender my heart, my memories, my past, and my attachments to You. I trust that You, and You alone, are the One who unites in true love and purpose. Begin in me a new work of healing and clarity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 2 – Acknowledge the Bond

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
John 8:32

Devotional

The first step toward healing is honesty. But honesty isn’t always easy—especially when it means admitting we’re still emotionally or spiritually tied to someone we were never meant to be bound to.

Maybe the relationship is over. Maybe you’ve blocked the number, deleted the photos, and convinced others (and even yourself) that you’ve moved on. But deep down, there’s still an ache. An emotional pull. A part of you that replays the “what ifs” and “maybe one days.”

Acknowledging a soul tie doesn’t make you weak—it means you’re ready to heal. It means you’ve stopped pretending that time alone can fix what’s still broken. Soul ties aren’t just memories; they’re soul-deep entanglements that linger long after the person is gone. Your mind still wanders, your heart still flinches, and your will still wavers.

But God doesn’t heal what we hide. He heals what we bring into the light.

When you say, “Yes, Lord—this bond still affects me,” you’re not giving the enemy power. You’re surrendering that tie to the only One who can truly break it. Jesus didn’t come to shame you. He came to set you free. And that freedom begins with truth.

Prayer:

God, I confess there are still places in my heart tied to someone who is no longer part of my life—or who was never meant to be. I don’t want to hide behind pride, fear, or shame. I choose to step into the light of Your truth. Show me where my soul is still attached—through memory, regret, longing, or guilt. I don’t want to pretend anymore. I want to be whole. I want to be free. And I know that freedom begins when I stop running from the truth. So today, I face it—with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 3 – Physical Separation

“Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”
2 Timothy 2:22

Devotional

There comes a time when emotional clarity requires physical distance. Soul ties aren’t just spiritual or emotional—they’re reinforced by physical proximity: lingering conversations, saved photos, shared playlists, social media follows, and late-night texts. These small connections may seem harmless, but they quietly keep the door open to a bond God is asking you to close.

Letting go physically isn’t about being dramatic or cold—it’s about being wise and intentional. You can’t heal from something that still has access to your life.

Deleting a contact, unfollowing an account, removing shared items, or avoiding familiar places—these aren’t petty moves. They’re spiritual boundaries drawn in faith. You're not punishing the other person—you’re protecting your process. Healing can’t grow where old wounds are constantly reopened.

Separation can hurt. You might feel guilt, longing, or doubt. But remember this: the Holy Spirit isn’t asking you to flee to deprive you of something good. He’s asking you to flee so He can lead you to something holy.

Your healing journey is sacred. Guard it well.

Prayer

Father, give me the strength to walk away completely from what binds me. Help me remove the contacts, the photos, the triggers, and the habits that quietly keep the door open to what You’ve already told me to leave behind. I confess—it’s hard. I still feel the pull. But I trust You more than my emotions. I believe that separation will make room for healing, and that obedience leads to wholeness. Today, I choose distance—not out of hate, but out of a deep desire to be free. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
